Last time I shared the map of the places I’ve lived and traveled over the last 20 years.
Looking at it brought up another thought.
Twenty years ago, when I took that first trip to Costa Rica, I had no idea what the next two decades would look like. I wasn’t thinking about living abroad. I wasn’t planning a completely different life.
It was just a trip.
That’s how a lot of these stories begin.
Someone visits Costa Rica. They feel something here. The pace feels different. The priorities feel different. Life starts to look a little different too.
Then the questions start.
Could I actually live here?
What would it take?
Is this even possible?
A lot of people never get past that stage. The questions stay in the back of their mind for years.
But every once in a while someone decides to look into it more seriously. They start asking better questions. They learn what living here really looks like beyond the vacation version.
And eventually they build a life here.
When I was looking at that map of all the places I’ve been, it made me realize something. Twenty years from now, someone reading this could be the one looking back at their own map of places and memories, thinking about everything that happened in between.
Sometimes it starts with a single trip.
Sometimes it starts with a conversation.
And sometimes it starts with a dream you haven’t even told anyone else about yet.
And sometimes it starts with deciding to look into it.
If living in Costa Rica is a reality you are considering, I’m here to help you sort through the questions and figure out what that might look like and how to make it happen.
